Lesson plans and resources Top tips Have fun! – pupils are more likely to engage if the event or fundraising idea is entertaining Give recognition to everyone involved Ensure its easy and affordable for pupils to take part – not all activities should be centred on raising money but also on connecting with the cause Fundraising ideas There are so many exciting and challenging ways to raise funds and make a real impact for communities in Haringey. Some ideas include: Go screen free - students can set up their own fundraiser pages and ask friends and family to sponsor them per hour or day that they don't use their devices. Sponsored read-a-thon - students can raise funds for time spent reading or the number of pages they read. Cultural fashion show - every culture has food, traditions, and fashion to be proud of! Instead of holding another food-based event, how about educating about cultural fashions, their history, and how they're a part of that particular culture's traditions? You can ask people to donate to get a ticket or make a donation for refreshments. Host a quiz night - how about students versus teachers? You can set out categories so everyone can take part and raise funds through ticket sales or drinks. Take part in a sporting challenge – have a friendly competition with prizes. Sponsored silence - ask people to donate per hour you're silent or for a period of time. Be prepared - this can be particularly hard (and entertaining for friends!) if you are a real chatterbox.
