It consists of 20 parallel streets running east–west between Green Lanes (a major road) and Wightman Road. These streets resemble the rungs of a ladder when viewed on a map—hence the name. The area stretches from Turnpike Lane in the north to Endymion Road near Finsbury Park in the south. Character and History Developed between 1880 and 1900, the Ladder was built as part of the Hornsey and Harringay Park Estates. The housing stock is mostly late Victorian and Edwardian terraced homes, known for their period features like sash windows and decorative brickwork. The Harringay Passage, a pedestrian walkway, runs north–south through the middle of the Ladder, connecting all the streets.
